General Roles

Exercises legislative, investigatory, and fiscal control over the municipality (§ 3-4)
Approves appointments of department heads, and members (& alternates) to the Planning and Zoning Boards
Approves removal of department heads by 2/3 vote of all members
Appoints Municipal Port Authority members (§ 48-3)
May override Mayor's veto by 2/3 of all members
Council Members are all "at-large" and elected for a term of 4 years
City Council meetings and work sessions are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month unless otherwise indicated (please see calendar)
City Council work sessions begin at 5:30 pm
City Council meetings begin at 6:30 pm
